Department store De Bijenkorf

A beautiful project for which we made the fitting rooms and matching cashier desks for the renewed men’s department in the Dutch department store De Bijenkorf Rotterdam.

Customers request
The men’s department in the basement of De Bijenkorf Rotterdam needed to be renewed. The whole floor got a new look & feel. That included new fitting rooms with matching cashier desks. Every fitting room has it’s own style and fits with the clothes displayed in that area.

Approach
In total six new fitting rooms and four new cashier desks needed to be made. The frame of the fitting rooms is build from multiplex and MDF. After that we coated the rooms with different materials such as gold colored aluminum, blue steel, walnut veneer, felt and Buxkin. Buxkin is a sort of felt, made from recycled leather and wool. On location the fitting rooms where build up and installed together with the desks. Sometimes even with nightshifts, during the closing times of the store to keep the disturbance of the customers to a minimum.

Result
The result is six solid fitting rooms that can withstand heavy and frequent use. With their unique look & feel, easy access and special cashier desks they contribute to the pleasant shopping experience of the customer.
