"After 33 wonderful years at INTOS, 24 of them in various roles and the last nine as managing director, this feels like the right time for a new phase. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together: from a local furniture maker, we have grown into an international interior design specialist with projects in more than 40 countries and, above all, the warm culture within INTOS. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their dedication and trust over the years" said Diederik.

Mutual decision for the future

Founder Theo Spanjaart emphasises the mutual nature of the decision: "Diederik has led INTOS through several phases and has been an indispensable link in our growth. This transition was a clear wish of Diederik and is the result of careful planning and mutual consultation. With Joost, we welcome someone who fits well into our family culture and has the ambition to make INTOS an even more valuable company."

Experienced leader with family business DNA

Joost Nelis (58) has had an impressive professional career. After 28 years at Royal BAM Group, where he was COO for the Netherlands division and member of the Executive Committee since 2019, he consciously chooses to return to a family business. At BAM, he held various managerial positions, including director of BAM Wonen and BAM Bouw en Vastgoed.

"Having grown up in a family business myself, which happens to be less than 200 metres from INTOS, I know what unique energy and commitment it brings. I see INTOS as a wonderful platform for sustainable growth, both quantitatively and qualitatively we can achieve a lot," Joost says.

Joost is no stranger to INTOS. With eight years of experience on the Advisory Board, he knows the organisation inside out. As new managing director and shareholder, he shows his full commitment to INTOS.

Continuity and ambition

As of July 2025, INTOS' management board consists of Joost Nelis, Hans Matze and Ronald Bregman.

"Our customer focus and INTOS DNA remain the foundation, custom-made furniture will always be at the core of INTOS," Joost stresses. We will remain the people-oriented company we have always been, with the same warm culture and focus on craftsmanship.

The transfer does mark the beginning of an ambitious growth plan: The organisation will further professionalise and in the coming years INTOS will strategically expand with new products and services, which match customer needs and our expertise," Joost said.

Sustainability as a starting point

INTOS has already made great strides with bio-based circular materials. A great starting point to set solid sustainability goals ourselves and help clients with their sustainability challenges.
