Haarlem, 11 June 2025 - At INTOS, safety is not only a priority in the projects we realise for our clients but also a core value in our own working environment, both in the workplace and in the office. As part of our ESG spearhead 'Healthy & safe working' we continuously invest in the safety and well-being of our employees. Therefore, in cooperation with IVARBO An intensive FAFS refresher course for our in-house emergency workers within INTOS.
As a company ranked among the top 24% sustainable furniture companies worldwide according to our recent EcoVadis audit, we know that sustainability extends beyond environmental care. Our Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) Step 2 certification and the aim to reach Step 3 by 2025, combined with our VCA certification for all performing employees, underline our ambition: a work environment with no work-related accidents and no absenteeism due to work pressure or stress by 2030.
From theory to life-saving practice with IVARBO
IVARBO specialises in everything from safety courses, consulting and corporate certifications. The FAFS course at INTOS combined theoretical depth with 3 realistic scenarios: medical emergencies, safe handling of hazardous substances in the workplace and professional wound treatment. By working systematically and working together as a team, the FAFS officers within INTOS developed skills that can literally make a difference in crisis situations. Under the professional guidance of an IVARBO instructor, the group was split up for targeted training.
Scenario 1: Medical emergency
The group was challenged to find out what was going on with 'Peter' through a systematic roadmap. Everyone took their role seriously and showed real commitment. Good cooperation and clear roles allowed the team to take the right actions: observe, ask questions and call for help.
Scenario 2: Hazardous substances
The second scenario focused on the safe handling of chemicals in the workplace. The group had to identify which substance had got on Peter's arm and help him appropriately, without putting themselves at risk. A crucial skill in our working environment.
Scenario 3: Wound treatment
In the final scenario, participants practised with different types of injuries: a bleeding bite wound and a glass cut with dirt. They learnt proper treatment methods that focused on preventing further damage and hygiene.
One step closer to our 2030 security vision
This FAFS training goes beyond meeting legal requirements, it is a tangible step towards our 2030 vision: a safe working environment without work-related accidents. While you can never completely eliminate accidents, well-trained FAFS crucially helps mitigate the consequences and act quickly and effectively in emergency situations. By investing in the skills of our FAFS officers, we strengthen the safety culture. A heartfelt thank you to IVARBO For organising this valuable training!
