A global biopharmaceutical company that discovers and develops innovative medical solutions wanted to establish itself with an office location in Amsterdam Zuidoost, in the hub of biotech companies. INTOS was asked as the main contractor to make the Dutch establishment of this global medical player a reality!
A three-storey office location for the biopharmaceutical company had to be realised in an existing building. And that within just 14 weeks from demolition to completion.
In coordination with real estate consultancy CBRE and to the design of architectural firm Fokkema & Partners we went to work for the biopharmaceutical company. As the main contractor responsible for the structural modifications of the existing spaces, finishing and furnishing, we supervised all parties within the tight schedule.
Once demolished, we could start wall construction, installing the installation work, ceilings, system walls and floors. To connect the second and third floors, we made a stair recess in the intermediate floor. The 16-metre-long steel support beam required for this was brought in through one of the windows and anchored in the existing building structure. During the finishing work, we also made all the fixed furniture for the overall interior.
"It has become a calm and spacious office, due to the use of a lot of glass combined with natural materials such as wood and furniture upholstery in earth tones. Despite that spaciousness, the room dividers with plants have created enough places to sit quietly for a while.
Maarten van Steenis, project manager INTOS: "True eye-catchers in this interior are the glass panels with transparent photos that create a surprising effect along the corridors of the offices. And of course the central staircase with the specially designed chandelier above it, which we also made!"
