Customer needs

The project involved a complete transformation of the ground floor of the hotel, where all public areas had to be given a new, warm and welcoming feel. The challenge was to create a harmonious whole that would reflect both Hilton's international appeal and authentic Amsterdam atmosphere, inspired by Amsterdam's bold, creative energy.

Our approach

As general contractor, INTOS coordinated the complete execution of the fixed interior on the ground floor including:

• Lobby with check-in desk - Solid wood desk as central reception point
• Lounge bar with fireplace and seating areas - Multifunctional space for relaxation and informal meetings
• WE ARE EDN restaurant - for 600 guests

All fixed interior elements were provided by INTOS: from floors to ceilings to various tile work. The loose furniture was purchased separately by Hilton, with the exception of the brown table in the WE ARE EDN restaurant - a custom-made piece of furniture from our own workshop in Haarlem. In this project, INTOS worked closely with Belgian design studio WeWantMore, responsible for the design of lobby, bar and restaurant.

Materials & Sustainability

In line with the INTOS philosophy of sustainable construction, we chose high-quality, natural materials:

• Solid wood for counters and furniture
• Durable flooring solutions that withstand intensive use
• Local materials where possible
• Energy-efficient lighting and climate solutions (20-30% energy saving)

Delivered result

This project highlights INTOS' ability as a general contractor to coordinate a complex network of international and local partners. The collaboration resulted in award-winning hotel spaces that are both internationally and locally anchored.

Art Collection & Cultural Integration

The project includes an extensive art collection that reinforces the Amsterdam identity; Veitenheimer Art Consultancy was involved in this. Specific artists: Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, Simone Poste, Evan Powell, Simon Moore, Raquel Rodrigo.
