14 Airports - Fraport Greece

Customer demand

14 airports in Greece were completely renovated. For this, Greek contractor Intrakat Group sought a qualified and certified party that could provide a total of 574 check-in counters, gate counters and passport counters for the airports. INTOS was asked to do so.

Assignment: Renovation 14 airports
Location: Greece
Design: INTOS

Approach

In close consultation with Intrakat, INTOS adapted its counter type Easy. Several samples of counter components were delivered to Intrakat, clearly showing the construction, finishing and materialisation. The samples gave a good idea of the quality delivered by INTOS and gave INTOS insight into the desired style and design. A completely new type of counter was created from this process. This counter was produced internally in one week and sent to Greece as a sample counter.

Getting started

After a rigorous selection and inspection of the custom-made counter both by Intrakat Group and the end user, Fraport Greece, INTOS was selected to supply the counters. Extraordinary, since mainly local suppliers are used in the realisation of these airports! Before production could start, INTOS was informed extensively about the baggage handling system so that the integration of displays, buttons and scales into the counter would be perfect.

Production of the counters took place at the INTOS workshop in Haarlem. These were delivered in several batches and sent to Greece. There, the counters were installed by a local team instructed by INTOS.

Result

The desk specially developed for these Greek airports is a sophisticated design and incorporates a wide variety of materials, from aluminium to glass and solid surface. A smart modular construction also makes this counter financially attractive. By the end of 2020, all airports will be equipped with the new counters. A total of 574 counters were made, 4500 m2 of sheet material was used and 16 km of edge banding was processed.

The airports in question are Thessaloniki, Kavala, Skiathos, Mytillini, Samos, Mykonos, Kos, Rhodes, Santorini, Chania, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Aktion, Kerkira.

"We really like the transparent way in which INTOS communicates and fulfils its agreements. This allowed us to quickly and jointly develop the optimum type of counter for us. We look forward to having the counters on site and the terminal check-in hall finished before the high season starts," Akis Kekridis, procurement at Intrakat.
